Naturalist-Led Family Hikes at Spring Lake Saturday
There will be 2 naturalist-led family hikes starting at the Environmental Discovery Center at Spring Lake this Saturday. The one-hour hikes will begin at 1 or 3 pm and families can return to the EDC afterward to design leaf cards and seed balls and learn more about plants and native plant use in Sonoma County. These will be easy to moderate hikes. All ages are welcome, but strollers are not recommended. $5 per family. Parking is $6 (free with annual parks membership). [Read more →]

Healdsburg Ridge Family Event Sunday
Healdsburg Ridge, an 161-acre open space preserve, is hosting a familyhike on Sunday to show off their new trails. There will be hot cider, seasonal activities and a guided hike. Bring a picnic. Free, but pre-registration required. Register here.

Lifetime Senior Pass for National Parks for $10
If you are a US citizen (or permanent resident) and 62 or older, you can get a lifetime pass for the National Parks for just $10. For the $10 rate, you need to apply in person at one of these Federal Recreation Sites —Point Reyes and Marin Headlands are two nearby sites. (You can mail this form, but then you pay an additional $10 processing fee).

Family Fun Day for Coastal Cleanup Volunteers at the Marine Mammal Center
If you want to help clean up our coastline on Coastal Clean Up Day (Sept. 17) the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito wants to reward you. Help clean up Rodeo Beach in the morning and then stay for free docent led tours, Family Fun Day activities, kids craft activities, and maybe you’ll get to watch a marine mammal or two get released on Rodeo Beach (there are a couple getting close to release, but the release is dependent on the animals readiness, so it may change).
