Free Museum Admission for Bank of America Card Holders
If you have a Bank of America Credit or Debit card, you can get free admission to museums across the country on the first weekend of every month—so this coming weekend. The nearest participating Bay Area museums are in SF: the DeYoung, the Legion of Honor, the Museum of the Diaspora, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and Zeum,(the cool kid’s museum). In Oakland, the Chabot Space and Science Center participates.
If you don’t have a B of A card, you might be interested in other free days at Bay Area museums.

Opening Celebration for Singgalot (The Ties That Bind)
Singgalot (The Ties That Bind): Filipinos in America, from Colonial subjects to Citizens is a Smithsonian Exhibit coming to the Sonoma County Museum on Friday. They’re celebrating the opening of this new exhibit with Filipino foods, live music, and an alter dedication. Free for museum members, Adults $10, seniors and students with ID $5, kids under 12 free.

Pirates! at the Petaluma Museum
The largest pirate exhibition in the bay area will be at the Petaluma Museum from September 16- November 28.
Part historical marauder, part boogey man, part dashing hero, and mostly a figment of the imagination of both authors and Hollywood dream-weavers, the pirates have captured the imagination of kids and adults alike. Smithsonian’s Free Museum Day Sept. 24, 2011
The Smithsonian Magazine is sponsoring a free admission day to hundreds of “non-Smithsonian” museums around the country. Print out free museum tickets from the website, here. Bay Area Museums participating include the Cartoon Art Museum, Museum of Craft and Folk Art, and Chinese Historical Museum in San Francisco; the Napa County Historical Society in Napa; the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa; the Petaluma Wildlife Museum; and more.
