It’s one of those good news/sad news posts. Translations at Cornerstone Place will be closing its doors at the end of June. Indoor and outdoor furniture made from reclaimed or sustainably harvested teak, marble topped tables, recycled metal firepits, home decor and metal garden sculptures will be 20%-60% off. Now through June 13. It’s good news in that if you are in the market for high end garden sculptures or furniture, there’s deals to be had just in time for summer. Sad that the economy has claimed another small business.

The 4th Annual Sonoma County DSA Law Enforcement K-9 Trials will be held this weekend at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. Featuring K-9 teams from various law enforcement agencies competing and demonstrating their skills in obedience, agility, area searches and patrol phases. No Pets Allowed. Free admission.

Martha Stewart knows her way around a grill, and there’s good news for you. You can download Martha Stewart’s  Grilling Cookbook free–just in time for Memorial Day grilling. (And it looks like the rain may subside long enough that you won’t have to grill in rainboots!)  The cookbook comes  in .pdf format. It includes appetizers, salads, main dishes, and desserts. You’ll get recipes from recipes from chefs and grilling experts, including Emeril Lagasse, Adam Perry Lang, Tim Love, Elizabeth Karmel, and Mike Mills.

The entire population of Sonoma Valley is invited south a few miles for the second annual Celebrate Sonoma Day at Infineon Raceway on Sunday, June 6, where local residents will be treated as VIPs and the all of the best “insider goodies” as the track hosts its historic motorsports festival.

The event,includes races by classic and historic race cars, access to the pits where the cars can be viewed as they are being prepared for the race, access to the Wine Country Pavilion and its bounty of fine local wines and cuisine.

Tickets for the event are regularly $40, but for local residents the price is half ($20), and local businesses can purchase them in bulk for their employees and their families as low as $10/ticket (in lots of 25 or more). Each ticket will include the VIP-Celebrate Sonoma credential and lanyard.

If you’re planning to visit a Six Flags theme park like Six Flags Discovery Kingdom/Marine World at least twice this season, think about getting  the season pass. Not only does it generally pay for itself in two visits, but it’ll come with a coupon book filled with about $300 worth of extras, including free tickets for friends, while supplies last. And it’s good at all the Six Flags parks, so if you’re travelling and get a hankering for a stomach churning roller coaster ride, you’re set.
