Cloverdale, Love it or Heave it?

Apparently on Monday, Deb of KZST dissed Cloverdale (don’t ask me, I didn’t hear it, I have no idea what she said). But Budget Travel Magazine has nominated Cloverdale as one of “America’s Coolest Small Towns.” You can still cast your vote here. And don’t forget to vote for the most beautiful wine country in the world, here.

Sounds like it’s time for a Ten Free Things to Do in Cloverdale post. For samples of other Ten Free Things posts see:

The problem is, I only have 4 free things  to do in Cloverdale so far.  So let me know:  what are your favorite free things to do in Cloverdale? Leave a comment below, or email me at lisa (at) sonomaonthecheap.com. I’ll even accept Geyserville, we can do a combo list.

Also, if you have any great photos of Cloverdale (or anywhere in Sonoma County) that you’d like to share, cruise over to our Facebook Fan page and upload them. (Link at the right).  Thanks!

Anyone can attend our free outdoor concert series
“Friday Night Live”, it is sponsored by the City of Cloverdale and produced by the Cloverdale Arts Alliance. Runs for 13 weeks * basically you have 13 free things to do on Friday nights during the summer.

We have a wonderfull fall bicycle tour which begins and ends at Historic Asti Winery. The Asti Tour de Vine. “It’s DeVine” This 3rd annual event includes five harvest themed rest-stops sponsored by the local non-profits, and a delicious bbq luncheon after the tour. Ride a leisurely 25k, 50k, 75k, 100, or the challenging 100mile Rockpile Rumple. Ride through charming rural countryside with breathtaking views of vineyards, Lake Sonoma and beyond. Its a beautiful time when harvest colors are full spectrum. Cloverdale is America’s best kept secret.

Hiking, boating, swimming and camping at Lake Sonoma. Sunny days at the Russian River. Wine tasting from Asti down Dutcher Creek to Dry Creek. Walking and riding bikes on uncrowded streets of Cloverdale.

Walk along the Russian River, play at Lake Sonoma, wine taste from Asti down Dutcher Creek to Dry Creek Valley, Hwy 128 to Hendy Woods and beach, walk and ride bikes on the uncrowded streets of Cloverdale, Antiques and Uniques Mall, citrus trees, veggies gardens and redwoods. Funny sea birds and flocks of Ravens.
