Italian Film Series

An Italian Film series will be offered free at the Petaluma campus of the SRJC. The series runs from Jan. 22 through February 5th.  Italian films from 1950 to the present will be shown. An overview of each film will precede the screening. All the films have English subtitles.  Here’s the schedule:

SIAMO UOMINI O CAPORALI? (Are We Men or Corporals?)
Friday, January 22, 2010, 7pm
Carole Ellis Auditorium, Petaluma Campus
Totò finds himself in an asylum, and he explains to his psychiatrist his theory of how humans are subdivided into two categories: “men” who are exploited and abused; and their abusers, the “corporals.” Totò illustrates his theory with episodes from his own life in which he has been persecuted by “corporals.”(1955, 94 minutes)

B.B. E IL CORMORANO (B.B. and the Cormorant)

Mario, called Bugs Bunny, is a plumber who who works in a residence called Cormorano. He dreams of going to America and becoming a successful rock music talent scout. (2003, 84 minutes)

MIO FRATELLO É FIGLIO UNICO (My brother is an only child)

Carole Ellis Auditorium, Petaluma Campus
Two brothers have fought each other since they were children. As adults, they still fight due to their different political beliefs. In addition to their political fights, they love the same woman. During the political storms of the 1970s their lives become even more turbulent. (2007, 100 minutes)
