The Lightning Thief will be released in movie theaters soon. Celebrate all things Percy Jackson with Borders at this Movie Release Party.  Fans ages 7 to 14 will be able to participate in Olympian Games, a Demi-God Debate, Percy trivia, and more.

Professional organizers across the U.S. have joined together to make our lives easier. They’ve organized (ha!) The Great Organizing Giveaway, which is full of everything from free tip sheets & podcasts to free consultations in person or by email. You’ll need to give up your first name & an email address to access the page of freebies, but once you do, you’ll find a lot of great info for organizing your home, office, or any other part of your life in need of a bit of expert guidance.

Stories, songs, a short film, and a craft. (This program will be in English and Spanish.) Wear your pjs and bring a favorite stuffed animal, doll or a blanket if you’d like. All ages welcome.

On February 5th, Starbucks will sample KIND bars at all of their 7,000 stores. Drop in to try one of the two flavors selling at your local Starbucks: Fruit & Nut Delight and Cranberry Almond+Antioxidants.

The Michael Jackson tribute at this year’s Emmy awards ceremony, Sunday, Jan. 31, will be broadcast in 3D — and Target is giving away free 3D Glasses – while supplies last. They caution that these “3-D glasses only work for special tribute and are not intended for entire telecast or This Is It on DVD or Blu-ray.”

Everyone who has been to outer space talks about how amazing it feels to float in a void surrounded by stars, yet no one ever mentions the outrageous cab fares and crummy food. Today’s Groupon gives you all the best parts of space travel without any of the drawbacks: for $35, you get a 60-minute floating session at Float Matrix (a $75 value).

I’ve heard people rave about these things, and although the “floating” part sounds great, the “sound- and light-proof pod” churns all my hidden claustrophobia to the surface…if you do it, let me know what you think.

The Rio Theater in Monte Rio has a “recession roll back” promotion. All movies at all times for all people are only 5 dollars. Dress warm!

I  bet you won’t be able to redeem this on Valentine’s Night, but it would make a sweet gift anyway…
