The 12th Annual Petaluma Police Canine Trials will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009  at  Petaluma’s Lucchesi Park.

The trials, hosted by the Petaluma Police Department, will begin at 10 a.m. at the American Little League baseball fields on Maria Drive. Admission is free, but dogs (other than those competing or service dogs) are not allowed.

Canine teams from throughout California will be competing in several events, including agility, obedience, area search and building search and overtaking and subduing people in scenarios designed to mimic real-life situations the dogs would face in their  street-patrol functions.

Two Petaluma police canine teams — Officer Mike Page and Rico, and Officer Jason Jucutan and Kilo — will compete.
