The Ox Roast is a local and traditional big barbecues with a full-day of events for the community with music, art and, slabs of delicious beef. Food bosses John Kelly and Steve Jones put together a feast that centers around slow-roasted barbeque beef, seasoned with their own secret ingredients. The Ox Plates cost $12 each and include a hearty portion of beef, corn-on-the-cob, salad greens, and fresh-baked bread. “As if a delicious meal wasn’t enough, everyone who purchases an Ox Plate is entitled to sample and vote on three on three different homemade barbecue sauces,” said Ox Roast committee member David Daniel. The creator of the sauce with the most votes is named the winner of the second annual ‘Sauce Your Ox’ competition. Folks with smaller appetites can opt for the Ox sausage plate for $10, and the kid’s portion goes for $5. Soda, beer and wine are available for an additional charge. No hometown barbecue is complete without a backdrop of music and the Ox Roast is no exception. The Air Force band Mobility gets the crowd dancing beginning at 1:00 pm, and at 3:00 pm the Latin-flavored music of Tudo Bem keeps the party going strong. The Ox Roast continues until 5:00 pm. or until all the food is sold out.
