Seal Pups at Goat Rock

The first harbor seal pups have been born at the seal rookerey at Goat Rock at Sonoma Coast State Beach in Jenner. These are the things that make Sonoma County special–and it’s free.
Every weekend, March through September, volunteers will be there, with spotting scopes, to answer questions about the 100+ seals sleeping on the beach. The rookerey is about a quarter mile from the parking lot, please keep your distance. During the day, they’re oxygenating from their evening hunts (looks a lot like sleeping to you and I). The Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods say if you don’t want to make the hike, you can stay on Hwy 1 past Jenner. At the top of the hill there is a pullout, and from there you can look down on the seals.
