Recycle unwanted belongings or find something you need free
It’s a great concept. Your diet was a success and you have a closet full of clothes in great shape, but too big. Your son has deemed his bunk bed too babyish, or your daughter has outgrown her bike. Or you’ve moved to a smaller home and don’t have space for that desk. You don’t want to pile good stuff in the landfill, but you don’t know anyone who can use what you’ve outgrown. Someone in Sonoma County can probably use what you no longer need, and Freecycle is the way to connect people who have something to give away with people who can put those things to good use.
Freecycle Santa Rosa has 4095 members. You can receive e-mail alerts of items being offered or you can send an e-mail requesting an item. Of course, if you don’t want to receive the e-mailed alerts, you can get free stuff by visiting the Yahoo Groups page. That option is available when you sign up. You have to pick your items up at a place designated by the person who is giving them away.
also offers a place to offer or receive materials that would normally go to the dump, though this site tends to be containers or construction leftovers, and seems to be less used.
